Getting decent amounts of money in Red Dead Redemption 2 can be extremely slow. When you’re looting in pennies, or maybe a few bucks tops, getting $1,500 cash is going to take you a little while.
Luckily we found a way to help with that. Mida Life Crisis uploaded a video with a hidden location on the map where you can pick up some free gold bars, and this can be done at any point in the game.
This is separate from the other Treasure Hunter missions, which require maps to attain. If you can find this cave and solve the puzzle, you’ll get the gold bars.
Finding The Location of the Gold Bars
To find these gold bars, you need to look for a cave in the northern section of the map, just east of Denner Falls. Look for a small slit in the rocks at the location on the map below:
I’d suggest going there during the day, or at least bring a lantern if you travel there at night, as the cave will be very dark.
Inside the cave you’ll find a ring of male statues, with a female statue in the center.
Go to the front side of the male statue (the side facing the center female statue) that is closest to the cave entrance and you’ll see a button you can press. Press the button on that statue. We’ll call this one Statue 1.
Now, going clockwise from Statue 1, you want to press the button on Statue 3, Statue 5, and Statue 6 in that order. If you press them in the wrong order, go around to the back of the statue and you’ll be able to press a button to reset them individually.
Once you press the buttons in the proper order, you should hear a brief shaking sound, and the center female statue will open up in the bottom revealing the three gold bars.
Where to Sell the Gold Bars
You can’t sell these expensive gold bars just anywhere, you have to find a Fence to sell them to. There are several Fence’s scattered around the map, and you can find them by bringing up your map, pressing the button for Index, and selecting Fence.
For example, the Fence below is located in Rhodes, which is located on the road that goes Southeast from your first camp:
