Fishing in World of Warcraft is quite a bit different than it used to be. Gone are the days of having to travel from zone to zone to level your fishing. You can now level from 1 to 525 in the shallow pools in Orgrimmar if you’d like, though it might be rather boring.. but it’s boring either way right?
There are some benefits to fishing however. Fish is used in  a lot of cooking recipes, which are fairly popular now since the introduction of stat food, so you can make a pretty fair amount of gold catching certain fish in the schools of fish around Azeroth and selling them on the Auction House. You can also catch some interesting things in some places, like the Sea Turtle mount, which can be caught from any of the fish schools in Northrend, and now in Cataclysm zones as well.

Leveling Fishing 1 – 525
Leveling fishing is as easy as visiting a guard to help you find the fishing trainer, learning to fish, grabbing a pole and start fishing. Click your fishing button to cast, and wait for a bite. Once you see your bobber dip a little bit, right click it to pull up what you caught.
Similar to other professions, you’ll see quick level gains at first, and much slower gains as you progress. Don’t forget to go back to your trainer to learn the next level of fishing at 75, 150, 225, 375, and 450.
