In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for the Nintendo 3DS, you can unlock special elemental arrows as you progress through the game.
Fire Arrows – After completing the Water Temple, shoot an arrow at the sun
Ice Arrows – Finish the Gerudo Training Ground
Light Arrows – Beat all of the Temples, then talk to Shiek
Tip: In order to gain early access to the Fire Arrows before beating the Water Temple, go to Lake Hylia and shoot an arrow at the sun while it is rising. The Fire Arrows will appear on a platform with two pillars near the Water Temple. Swim to the platform, or summon Pierre with the Scarecrow Song and use the Longshot to grab it.
