In The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, there is a house that you can buy in five of the major cities in the game. They can’t simply be bought right away however, you have to first gain favor in that city and get permission from the Jarl in that city.
In order to gain favor, you need to do the main quest line in that city. Once you get to a certain point, the Jarl will grant you access to purchase a home. Once you have access to purchase a house in that city, speak to the steward in order to purchase the house.
Each house has a different price, and different upgrade options and upgrade prices as well. Each house comes pretty bare, and upgrades are necessary in order to add function, like storage space and alchemy tables, etc.
Here are the list of houses that you’ll be able to purchase, where they’re located, and how much they cost.
Breezehome – Located in Whiterun, costs 5,000 septims
Honeyside – Located in Riften, costs 8,000 septims
Vlindrel Hall – Located in Markath, costs 8,000 septims
Hjerim – Located in Windhelm, costs 12,000 septims
Proudspire Manor – Located in Solitude, costs 25,000 septims
