Rockstar recently started posting in game and around the internet about a stimulus package they’ll be giving out to GTA Online players who have played in the month of October.
The stimulus package is a gift of $500k, which is essentially an apology for all of the “technical problems” we have seen since GTA Online launched at the beginning of October.
The initial issue was primarily outages that kept a lot of people from playing at all, including myself. Later however, they had other cloud issues that caused character files to be deleted permanently, which I believe is the real driving force behind this stimulus package.
Is this the right move though? Do you just hand out $500k to everyone, including the players that weren’t effected at all? If you read the initial comments, you see a lot of mixed responses.
Some people are thankful, because they lost hundreds of thousands of dollars and many hours of gameplay on their characters that ended up being deleted. Others however don’t want the money, they feel like it’s cheating and they want to earn it instead, to which I say.. I’ll gladly take your money from you!
Personally, I’m on the fence about this one. I feel like they should have dealt with the people that were directly effected by deleted characters, giving them a separate stimulus based on what they lost. Maybe this wasn’t possible though, it would likely take too much time, or was probably impossible to verify every instance of the issue.
I won’t be denying their free money myself, I’ll be using it to help buy nice Supercar, which creates a whole new problem..
Which one to buy?
That’s a nice problem to have in my opinion!
