In Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, just like previous installments, you have a fairly limited amount of inventory slots by default. In the beginning you have to make tough decisions on what to pick up and what to drop, until you can unlock more inventory slots.
Luckily in RE7, there are several backpacks you can find throughout the game that act as item slot upgrades, unlocking more slots for… stuff. If you’re a hoarder in games like I am, this is great news!
Honestly I’m not sure how finding a bunch of backpacks would help that much, I only have one back.. but I digress.
You should notice the bags fairly easily as they look like large camping style backpacks. There are three different backpacks to find (so far as of this article being written), and each will increase your number of item slots by four.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Backpack Locations
Backpack 1: In the Old House, look for the Cassette Recorder icon on your map. You’ll find the backpack in this area.
Backpack 2: After you acquire the Serpent Key, go upstairs to the main hall and look for the doors to the Master Bedroom. You’ll find the backpack in this room.
Backpack 3: On the Old Ship, after you acquire the fuse and open the door requiring the fuse, you’ll encounter another locked door. This door is unlocked with an item called Corrosive, which you’ll acquire a bit further in the story (it’s an unmissable story item.) When you get to the point of the story where it sends you to attain the fuse again for something else, stop by the door and use the Corrosive on it to open it and find the item slot upgrade inside.
