We saw World of Warcraft join the “free to play” ranks a few months ago, allowing gamers to play up to level 20 without purchasing a subscription, so I guess it’s a natural evolution for it to become a facebook accessible game as well.
David Perry, the guy that runs Gaikai cloud gaming services told Gamespot that cloud gaming is the wave of the future, and that you’ll start to see more and more games joining the ranks of Facebook and other online cloud gaming platforms very soon.
I have mixed emotions about this. Sure, it helps gamers that can’t afford expensive PC’s run better games, but at what cost? Do we really want to muck up all of our social sites with more Farmville games? Is this really the direction that video games are headed?
**Update** Gaikai quickly released a statement saying that the demo Perry was using wasn’t a real demo. You’d think a smart guy like that would know to explain such things!!
