Super Street Fighter 4: How To Perform New 720 Ultras

    April 29, 2010 Posted by DoubleDizle PS3, XBox 360

Every character in Super Street Fighter 4 for PS3 and Xbox 360 have new Ultras that you can choose. Your wrestler types with 720 spins for their new ultra can be difficult to do, primarily because you can not simply be standing to use them. You must combo it after an attack, dash, jump, or focus attack in order to pull it off. I would suggest using training mode and setting your ultra meter to max to get the timing right and get comfortable performing it regularly before you try it in regular matches.

The easiest string to use that I have found is to combo it from a jump. Jump at an angle toward your opponent, and right as you start to descend start to buffer the 720 spin, that way you can hit the corresponding button right as you land to unleash the combo.

If you’re not familiar with buffering, it simply means beginning one action during the animation of another action. In this example, you start to do the 720 during your jump animation because you don’t have to wait until you land to begin the 720.

The same applies to other actions as well for other characters. For example, you can begin to do Ken’s shoryuken in the air during a jump and hit punch right as you land to save valuable seconds. When timed right you can also buffer during other moves, and you can perform some actions during the buffer as well. Take Ken’s shoryuken as another example. To perform his shoryuken you would normally hit forward, down, forward+punch. Instead you can hit forward+punch, down, forward+punch and you will do a punch right before your shoryuken, extending your combo by one more hit.

With good timing, there is an endless number of ways do combos using the buffering technique. Go into training mode and find your own.
