Red Dead Redemption: How to Disarm Enemies

July 22, 2010 Posted by DoubleDizle PS3, XBox 360

In Red Dead Redemption for PS3 and Xbox 360, one of my favorite “stick it to ’em” moves is the disarm. It works in duels to net you an additional 100 honor, and it makes hogtying a lot easier on bounty hunting missions to net some extra cash instead of killing them for a lower bounty.

In regular fire fights, disarming is fairly simple (assuming neither of you are moving, and they’re in plain sight).. just aim for their trigger hand and pop them a few times. This is much easier when using Dead Eye for obvious reasons.

In Duels it’s a little bit trickier. When the duel starts, hold down on the right analog stick (direction down, not click down) and when the word “Draw” comes up, push up on the right analog stick quickly to put the reticle over the opponent. All you have to do at this point is put the reticle over the opponents draw hand, and wait for the reticle to turn from red to white then pull the right trigger as soon as it does. Two well timed trigger pulls when the reticle is white on their draw hand should fill your bar and pop the gun right out of their hand winning the duel for you, sparing their life, and netting you an extra 100 honor.
