Mario Kart Wii: Accelerate Quickly After Blue/Red/Green Shell, or Any Other Full Stop

April 2, 2010 Posted by DoubleDizle Wii

In Mario Kart, getting hit with pretty much anything can easily destroy a race for you.. especially on the last lap of online races, or even 150cc and Mirror modes.  Some attacks can be easily blocked or evaded with proper skill or items, but the Blue shell is a lot harder to evade, and can easily spell destruction if you’re leading the last lap on a neck and neck race.

There is a trick to help such bad luck though.  After you get hit with an attack that fully stops you, hold B and A at the same time.  When you shake off the attack and would normally be able to accelerate again, you will be burning your tires for a second and your tires will turn green like when you drift in manual mode.  The instant you see your tires go green, let go of B and you’ll boost to full speed.

This may seem counter productive at first sitting there spinning, but with certain vehicles that have terrible acceleration (ie: the Flame Runner) you will get back to full speed in much less time than it would have taken you otherwise, and possibly still have your win.
