The current craze for most games on the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch are to make them free to play, but costly to play faster or more efficiently.
Don’t want to wait for that dragon to hatch in DragonVale? Buy some gems, or just skip the whole process and buy the dragon for a nominal fee! That’s what these companies would prefer you to do.
If you’re a parent letting your kids play these free games, then I would highly suggest turning off the option for in-app purchases, and setting a password for it as well, that way your kids can’t “accidentally” purchase a bunch of these things without your knowledge.
Follow these steps to disable in-app purchses for any game on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
1. Go to Settings from the home screen
2. Press General
3. Press Restrictions
4. Select Enable Restrictions and enter a password to keep anyone from disabling it in the future
5. Scroll down to Allowed Content, and turn the In-App Purchases option to Off, which should prompt you for the password you setup
