In Halo: Reach for the Xbox 360, your nameplate in the multiplayer lobby is now customizable. You can’t do it in the game though, you have to login to Bungie.net and meet certain requirements. Some of these aren’t attainable unless you played certain games in the past, so just an FYI.
Assault Rifle Nameplate – If you played the Halo: Reach beta in May 2010, then this will be unlocked
DMR Nameplate – Subscribe to Bungie Pro hosting service on Bungie.net
HALO Nameplate – Unlocked Halo 1, Halo 2, and Halo 3 logo nameplates
Halo 1 Logo Nameplate – Register your original Halo PC product code on Bungie.net
Halo 2 Logo Nameplate – Played Halo 2 on Xbox Live before April 15th 2010 with your current account
Halo 3 Logo Nameplate – Played any Halo 3 campaign level while connected to Xbox Live
Marathon: Durandal Nameplate – Download and play Bungie’s original game Marathon: Durandal
ODST Logo Nameplate – Play Halo: ODST while connected to Xbox Live
Spartan Helmet Nameplate – Unlock any 4 out of these 5 nameplates: Halo 1 logo, Halo 2 logo, Halo 3 logo, Assault Rifle, ODST logo
The Septagon Nameplate – Join Bungie.net and play Halo: Reach on Xbox Live
