In DragonVale for iPhone and Android, you can redeem various social codes that will give you a gift of different amounts of gems.
Redeeming a code is easy, simply tap the Social button, then tap the Redeem Code button. Type in a valid social code and press OK. If a valid code is entered it will give you a message that it worked, and you should find your gems in the Gifts tab.
Friend Codes
Each player in DragonVale has a friend code attached to their account. Entering a code from one of your friends will grant you 25 gems, but you can only enter one friend code per account.

Using my friend code will give me some gems as well, allowing me to figure out some of the new breeding recipes a bit sooner.
Special Redemption Codes
Every now and then, Backflip Studios releases a social code on their Facebook page that will allow you to get some free gems for a limited time.
The current social code you can redeem for Christmas of 2013 is Presents. Enter this code to receive a gift of 25 free gems. This will expire soon, so use it quick.

2 Years – Promotion recognizing the two year anniversary of DragonVale than ran September 12th, 2013 through December 3rd, 2013
