Some companions you will find automatically during the main story line, and others you might have to hunt down.
Here are all of the companions, where to find them, and what you’ll need to do to get them to join your cause.
Blackwall – Encountered during “The Lone Warden” quest early in the game, and he will be located in Hinterlands.
Cassandra – Automatically joins you toward the beginning of the game.
Cole – If you choose side with the Templars and complete the “Companions of the Just” quest, Cole will be available to recruit in The Fade. Otherwise, if you choose to side with the Mages and complete the “In Hushed Whispers” quest, you’ll find him in Haven once it has been attacked.
Dorian – If you choose side with the Mages and complete the “In Hushed Whispers” quest, Dorian will be available to recruit in Redcliffe. Otherwise, if you choose to side with the Templars and complete the “Companions of the Just” quest, you’ll find him in Haven once it has been attacked.
Iron Bull – After dealing with the clerics in Val Royeaux, travel to Haven and speak with Krem. After this, travel to the first camp in Storm Coast, and you’ll see a battle down by the beach. Help Iron Bull defeat the attackers and you’ll be able to hire him.
Sera – After the first major cutscene in Val Royeaux, an arrow is shot into the street near you which contains a letter. Read the letter to start the “A Friend of Red Jenny” quest. Complete this quest to have the option of Sera joining your party.
