The Apprentice (Starkiller) can be difficult to beat. So you might need a good strategy to take him on in Soul Calibur 4.
If you’re trying to unlock The Apprentice, you will need to use Vader in Arcade mode and beat him. A good strategy is to assign R2 the A+G button combo. This gives Vader the Emperor Toss move as a grab. The Apprentice seems to be very vulnerable to this move. Do it over and over again and you will be able to defeat him.

How do I unlock Kamikirimusi in Soul Calibur 4 for the PS3 or Xbox 360?
Beat Story Mode with Amy, Cassandra, Mitsurugi, Tira, Xianghuaand or Yun-Seong and you will be able to play as her.

Unlock Scheherazade in Soul Calibur 4 so that you can play as her.
You can do this by defeating her in Story Mode with one of the following characters:
Nightmare
Siegfried
Voldo
Yoda
Yoshimitsu

Want to unlock The Apprentice (Starkiller) so that you can play as him? On the PS3 you can. Just beat the game in Arcade Mode as Darth Vader and he will be unlocked.

You can unlock The Apprentice (Starkiller) in Soul Calibur 4 for the Xbox 360 and play as him. Just complete Arcade mode with Yoda.

To unlock Angol Fear in Soul Calibur 4 for the PS3 or Xbox 360, just beat Angol Fear in Story mode with Algol, The Apprentice, Darth Vader, Kilik, Scheherazade, or Zasalamel. Then enjoy playing the game as her.

You can unlock Ashlotte in Soul Calibur 4 for the PS3 or the Xbox 360.
Just beat Ashlotte in Story mode with Angol Fear, Maxi, Astaroth, Rock, Lizardman, or Talim and you will be able to play as her.

How do you unlock Algol in Soul Calubur 4 for the PS3 or Xbox 360?
Successfully complete Story Mode with a character that faces Algol as the final boss such as Mitsurugi or Taki.
