I never bothered with setting up my Wii to work with my wireless connection. In fact, I wasn’t even aware the device had wireless capability without buying some type of card. I was thrilled to discover there was a whole online world where I could compete against others at Mario Kart Wii. God I love this friggin’ game! It’s the reason I have missed a lot of work. I also have many dirty dishes and Mountain Dew cans laying around my living room.
Online play is cool, but when playing locally I miss the ability to play Vs. Mode against one other player though. I don’t like having all of the computer characters in the game with me. I also need a bigger TV, because when I play with 4 players on my little 27 inch, it just gives me a headache.
Well, I’m off to play a bit more. Maybe later I will get back into Castle Crashers, but for now I’m trying to hit Leo with a red shell. He pushed me into the lava and I’ve gotta get him back. I hope you all are enjoying the site and I will keep posting tips as I learn them.

In Mario Kart Wii, if you are riding a motor bike, doing wheelies can give you an extra boost of speed. Here’s how:
Whenever you come across a point in the race when you will be going straight for a bit, build up as much speed as you can. Once you have a lot of speed built up, pop a wheelie by shaking the Wii-wheel and angling it upward as though you were really riding a bike. You won’t be able to steer, but you will get a nice little boost of speed.
The amount of speed you get from the wheelie will be related to how much speed you had when you started it. So it’s a good idea to do this when you’ve just finished a jump or using a mushroom.

A great way to gain an advantage on a player in front of you is to draft them. Simply stay directly in back of the other kart. A series of blue streaks will start to appear. If you can keep the streaks appearing and stay directly behind the other kart, you will get a huge burst of speed.

So you’ve fallen off the track. Perhaps into lava or into space. You’ll need an extra boost of speed to help get you caught up again. Here’s how:
Right when the cloud is dropping you on the track, time it just right to where you start pressing the 2 button (gas) right as you hit the ground. It takes practice, but if done correctly, you will get a nice little extra boost of speed.

You might notice that some players in Mario Kart Wii will have a little golden wheel appear next to their name. I used to wonder why this icon appeared. It turns out, that if you use the Wii Wheel extensively in all modes in the game, you will get this designation.

Red shells are very common in Mario Kart Wii. There are a few ways to defend against these attacks.
1. Drag a banana, green shell, or red shell behind you. You can hold down the B button to do this.
2. When approaching a turn that has a wall, stay close to the wall on the side you will be turning. Then turn sharply around the corner. If done right, you can make the red shell hit the corner of the wall.
3. Whip around an item such as a banana that’s left on the course. Sometimes the red shell will hit the item instead of you.

There is usually a way to block most of the attacks in Mario Kart Wii, but the Blue shell is very hard to defend against. Here are the few options you have:
1. Use the mushroom to speed up right as the blue shell hovers over you and starts downward. The shell will come down and miss you.
2. Be lucky enough to be at one of these points in the game.
- GCN: DK Mountain: Go through the DK Cannon.
- Rainbow Road: Go through the tunnel with the big stars.
- DK Summit: Go through the DK Cannon.
- N64: DK’s Jungle Parkway: Go over the jumps over the yellow river.

You may have noticed that some racers in Mario Kart Wii can get a little boost of speed at the beginning of the race. You can do this by starting to hold down the gas right after the 2 comes up on the screen during the 3, 2, 1 countdown.

How to block a POW move in Mario Kart Wii.
Simply shake the Wii wheel right as the POW block is about to hit. Even though you avoid the attack, you will still lose all of your items. You can perform this move with all types of vehicles.
