I decided to be a Pitcher and play in Road to the Show mode in MLB 09: The Show for the PS2. I discovered a way to cheat and block runners from advancing. If you give up a hit that looks like it’s going to be a double, run into the runners path between first and second. If you do it right, you can slow down or completely stop the runner as he runs into you. You can also do this between any of the other bases except home and first.
I only did this with the PS2 version. I am not sure if you can do it with the PS3 or PSP versions.
