In DragonVale for the Android and iOS systems (iPhone and iPad, etc.), the Ruby Dragon is the third Gemstone Dragon introduced to the game, representing the month of July. Being a Gemstone dragon, it earns gems instead of gold.
The Ruby Dragon has a base breeding time of 31 hours, sells for 1,500,000 gold, and earns 100,000 XP upon successful breeding at level 17.
To get a Ruby Dragon, you need to breed a Chrome Dragon with a Scorch Dragon during the month of July.

You’ll find the chrome dragon and others on my DragonVale Breeding Guide. Chrome = Metal + Air.

Well I got it my first try with chrome and scorch and I was trying to gtet a gold I thought it was almost impossible to get a ruby but i did:)

Here is a few tips
1. Before u get ruby do not buy the golden habitat
2. Chrome and scorch has a high chance
3. Be patient
I got the ruby a while after gold came out so I know these tips will work… I got the ruby and then I bought the gold habitat and got a gold

I agree this is ridiculous, I have been trying since the first, spending tons of gems to speed it up, and I have 1 gold dragon and countless other dragons, mostly firework. Which don’t even sell for that much to at least compensate for the fact that I’m trying so hard. I am really getting fed up! I love this game, it’s entertaining, but I really shouldn’t be spending so much to get a digital dragon. I’m about to delete it so the temptation is no longer there.

This is ridiculous. Chrome and scorch?! It’s the exact same dragons needed for the new Gold dragon. Now every time I try for a Ruby, 99% of the time I get Gold. Dragonvale did it on purpose to make the Ruby dragon that much harder to get.
